DoubleWall Shell

Our goal was to create a simple ultralight and versatile garment. We designed the DoubleWall shell with the understanding that loose, free-flowing, clothing is better cold-weather protection than the more rigid three-ply waterproof/"breathable"laminates. We chose to use 30denier silicone coated fabric for its superior weather resistance and tear strength.  However, we were faced with the dilemma that this fabric cannot be bonded or seam taped by any commercially viable method. Our solution was to create a double-wall garment incorporating a drop lining that protects against both evaporative and radiant heat loss.  We chose a metalized fabric to accomplish this.  The fact that the fabric is slippery allows the seams to slip off one another, making water penetration very unlikely even in torrential rain.

For active outdoors' people the DoubleWall Shell was designed to be worn over our NTS shirt.  However, there are some who might choose to wear it as a VB base layer since it is  lightweight enough to layer over.   The inner lining blocks evaporative and radiant heat loss and will prevent sweat from penetrating your insulating layer(s). 

For less active people, The DoubleWall Shell is perfect to be worn around town, over a sweater or fleece jacket, for added warm and protection from wind, snow and rain.
