The VaprThrm ® NTS Shirt is, without question, the most important protective garment to have - especially on multi-day outings. The windproof NTS shirt prevents evaporative heat loss, and protects your insulating layer(s) from being degraded by sweat.
The lining incorporates a comfortable wicking/rapid-drying fiber, with Cupron's revolutionary copper fiber technology to help control body odor. Designed to be worn next-to-skin (NTS), this shirt will create a comfortable micro-climate that you can control.
The face of the jacket is constructed from an interlock fabric treated with a Teflon HT finish to shed precipitation.
The NTS Shirt may be the only layer you will need to wear, depending on weather conditions, your metabolism, and how hard you are exerting yourself. Also, when used with the NTS pants, serves to replace a VB sleeping bag liner.
The shirt offers zipped mesh pockets to allow you to vent. The sleeves are cut wide at the cuff to permit the chimney-effect cooling. Additional 6.5" forearm zipper vents are optional.
At first it may take a bit of getting used to, but users swear by it. Two simple rules: 1) wear less; sweat less. 2) if too warm vent by opening front and pocket zippers, as well as loosening the cuffs. Conversely, if getting cool close zippers and Velcro cuffs to trap body heat. Recommended to be worn 24/7 when on out on extended days. Simply layer over it when you stop moving. Your dry insulating layers will warm you up and your body heat will quickly dry the lining.
